Rope and Lines
Various types of rope and lines made of HMPE, PP, PE, Nylon and Polyester in various constructions. Lines with high breaking strength for towing and mooring of ships. If you are looking for a rope with a loop, our ropes with pole eyes offer a solution.
Thin lines
Less heavy rope is also available within our extensive range. Thin lines such as lifeline, flag line and mooring line for life rafts (painter line) are available on a roll. Rope with a diameter of 1 to 48 mm suitable for various purposes.
Rope length and breaking strength according to ES-TRIN
ES-TRIN Article 13.02(3) - Other equipment
3. In addition, at least:
a) Steel mooring lines for mooring:
Each ship must be equipped with 3 steel mooring lines. Its minimum length must be:
1st mooring line: ship length + 20 meters, but not more than 100 meters,
2nd bunch: 2/3 of the first bunch,
3rd bunch: 1/3 of the first bunch,
For ships with a length of less than 20 m, the shortest hawser can be omitted.
These bunches must be designed for a minimum breaking strength (Rs) determined using the following formula:
Length x Width x Draft = LxWxD
For LxWxD up to 1000 m³:
Rs= 60 + LxWxD = Kilo Newton
------------------------------------------
10
For LxWxD greater than 1000 m³:
Rs= 150 + LxWxD = Kilo Newton
-------------------------------------------
100
1 Kilo Newton x 102 = Kilogram
1 Kilogram / 102 = Kilo Newton
An inspection certificate in accordance with the European standard EN 10204: 2004, model 3.1, must be on board for the prescribed steel mooring lines.
These hawsers may be replaced by other ropes of the same length and with the same breaking strength.
The minimum breaking strength for these cables must be noted in a statement.
b) hawsers for towing:
Tugboats must be equipped with a number of mooring lines appropriate to their function.
However, the main rope must be at least 100 m long and have a breaking strength in kN equivalent to at least one third of the total power in kW of the propulsion engine(s).
Motor vessels and push boats that are allowed to tow must be equipped with at least a towing rope of 100 m in length, the breaking strength of which in kN corresponds to at least a quarter of the total power in kW of the propulsion engine(s).
